TOPIC: Fatal error after creating first item
#264
Fatal error after creating first item 2 Years ago
Hi,

after creation of a category and an item I get such message on frontend:

Fatal error: Call to a member function get() on a non-object in /home/cpalt/public_html/components/com_jcollection/views/category/tmpl/default.php on line 141

After creating category no message, but after creating first item this message about fatal error.

Could you help please.

Thanks in advance,

Juozas

Hi,
apparently the category (and/or the global component) parameters are not read correctly for some reason. Could you try to edit the component parameters and save them (and do the same with the category parameters)? This should actually never happen, there is also a small bug in the "no parameter available"-detection-and-fallback-code in the category view, this will be fixed anyway.
Regards,
Thorsten.

Thank you for reply.

I tried to as many as I could to change parameters of category as well as component, but the same fatal error.

Tried also to reinstall component. Deleted all items and category items, but when created new ones again the same fatal error.

May be You have an idea which exactly parameters to change.

Thank You.

Hi,
it does not matter which parameter, my idea was to make sure that there indeed is a parameter that can be accessed. As I already mentioned, there is a small bug in the category view code, that is why the error is thrown (there should be a fallback to the standard parameters if the category parameters are not accessible for some reason). But the cause for the error is that there is something wrong with the parameters, probably the PHP parameter object cannot be created. Could you check that the xml files in /administrator/components/com_jcollection/models can be read by the webserver?
I'll have a deeper look on the weekend!
Thorsten.
