Thumbnail 10 Months ago

First let me say that once I figured out how to use this component, I'd have to say that it is waaaaay better than book library and thanks for creating it!
Ok, now on to the problem...
When I create a new item, which can only be done successfully from the front end (Another topic), The listing shows up in the catergory just fine, but without a thumbnail.
When I click on the title (in the front end) and go into the full description there is a larger image.
I have uploaded an image into the jcollection image folder, but when I apply it to an item it shows as a thumbnail in the category, but also shows up again in the full description as a second duplicate image. So, in the full description I have two of the same image showing.
How do I get the small thumbnail to show in the category, and only one larger image to show in the full description?
Thanks!

Hi,
there are 2 things to consider: the item itself has an image, which may or may not be overwritten by an associated info set. In a standard setup, you'd typically have one info set per item, and overwrite all the item information (title, description, image, url) by the info set. When displaying the item, the information (including the image) might show up twice, once for the item itself, and once for the info set. To avoid this, you can set the global parameter "show item information" to "hide", thus the item image itself is not displayed, but only the info set image.
I admit it is a little confusing, but very flexible.
HTH,
Thorsten.

Hi,
I'm sorry if I confused you. I do want a thumbnail in category view, just like you have on your site.
I want the thumbnail to show on this page
as well as the details page. But, only one thumbnail on the details page.
I can't get the thumbnail to show.
Thanks!

Hi,
so my questions are: what are your overwrite settings? Was the image entered in the info set or in the item itself? Did you enter the book in frontend or in the backend? The thumbnails that are shown in the demo here are simply the images that belong to an item, they are just scaled down. So your setup surprises me, because obvously the images show in the detail view. Either your overwrite settings are somehow wrong, or I'll have to check the category view once more.
Thorsten.

Hello,
I was not able to sucessfuly enter an item in the back end, so both items were entered in the front end. Also, I was not able to use the wizzard in the front end either.
The info is being pulled from all web services, so the image is also being pulled from all web services (amazon?).
I just tried setting "No overwrite in category or list view" to yes and one (only one) of the thumbnails did show up in category view, but Author & binding info dissapeared.
These are my curerent settings
This image is hidden for guests. Please login or register to see it.
Hope this info helps.
Thanks

Hi,
mh, seems it has to do with the frontend-item adding (maybe the item parameters are not properly set, the frontend is not really designed to change them). Why can't you use the backend (or the frontend wizard)? Can you check the item and the info set parameters in the backend?
Best,
Thorsten.
