Problem with getting info from imdb 2 Years, 3 Months ago
Hello Thorsten,

I just installed the latest JCollection (0.9.16beta) in my Joomla 1.5.14 for setting up a DVD list. I also got imdbphp and copied the class files to the directory the documentation tells me. When I create a new info set, I type in the name and click "select" in the imdb section. After a while the lightbox shows me the found items on imdb and I can choose one by clicking the title.

I expectet the JCollection now to copy the detail infos (director, artists etc.) to the info fields, but this does not happen.

Do I expect something wrong or do I have to do a further step to make things work?

Thanks in advance
Harry

PS: It would be helpful to have an Q&A forum for the beta or at least for JCollection...

Hi Harry,
the behaviour that you observe is expected, the information is usually fetched "on-the-fly" when an item is displayed in frontend. The reason is simply that many webservices are somewhat restrictive concerning saving the fetched information. You can, however, use the "permanent overwrite" to permanently store the fetched information (as it is shown in the frontend) into the database.
Best,
Thorsten.
PS: I added 2 new forum categories into the JCollection section (which also applies to the beta).
