hello dear Thorsten

any chance to implement this

first user !

www.bibtip.com/

BibTip is a service, that enriches online catalogs (OPACs) by adding a powerful recommender system.

The recommender system BibTip enriches the functionality of OPACs with recommendations. Recommendations are links to similar titles and are generated by statistic analyses of OPAC user behavior. BibTip offers added value to users, complements the traditional subject indexing and provides a useful tool that will keep library catalogs attractive in the future.

BibTip is not a software but a service. One of its substantial benefits is the simple integration in arbitrary OPACs. Storage and analysis of the recommendations happens on the central BibTip servers. No additional hardware or software is required, nor any admin work.

BibTip was developed at the KIT and is in productive use in the KIT Library OPAC since several years. But BibTip can also be used by any other library and the number of libraries opting for a BibTip usage in their OPAC is continually growing.

In order to transfer BibTip to a self-supporting service and in order to guarantee its long-term availability, the BibTip GmbH was founded in September 2009 with the objective to take over operation and further development.

Hi,
short answer: no.
Long answer: if you consider "implementation" as "using the bibtip services from JCollection", then it is a definitive no. As far as I understand bibtip is a commercial service specifically aimed at libraries and their OPAC services, it seems there is no open interface or anything like that. If you refer to "implementation" as "re-implementing some of bibtip's functionality", then it is a "probably no". Implementing a recommendation system for JCollection would be really quite useful, but probably also a whole lot of work, so it is not likely to happen anytime soon.
Thorsten.
PS: Still looking forward to your donation.
