TOPIC: new problems after insert a few items
#152
new problems after insert a few items 2 Years, 3 Months ago
Yesterday i want to insert a few new DVD´s in my JCollection.

I use the backend for this. I still found a few problems at my work :

1)
After I insert the Titel firstly I hit "save". Then I fill out the needed InfoSet parameters ( Current info set name, Info title, Typ ) and "saved" this changes also. Then I selected the ASIN-Code and save the hole Itemconfiguration.

I continued this work for all new DVD´s.

After that I marked all new items an used the "Permanent Overwrite" function like i did it with my imported items. Unfortunately the result is not the one I expected. All InfoSet information was filled correctly ( Actors, releasedate, Info image etc. ). But, the imagelink which was filled in the input field "Info image" was not assumed in the image entry from the "Detail" menue above.

This wouldn't be a problem if the InfoSet images would displayed in the frontend. But they aren´t ! I don´t understand this because the global "Image overwrite" parameter is set to "Yes" !?

I would change the entry for the image input field manually to the link, but in the current release you only can choose a picture from the local jcollection image path. I can not fill in the imagelink from the input field "Info image" manually.

2)
At the old Collection I could easily vote for an item. Now i only found an votingoption under "Adding a new review". But there are 5 votingoptions and none of this is named in any kind. ( see picture ).
Is there any way I can use only one votingoption like in the old Collection ?

Hi,
to your first question, as long as an image entry is empty, it is only possible to select a local picture from the path. As soon as an image entry is not local (i.e. if it originated from a permanent overwrite), the JCollection backend will display a regular edit field. So what was the actual problem, does the permanent overwrite of images not work as expected? Did you try to manually re-do the permanent overwrite? Sometimes it is that Amazon does not provide the images, although they appear on their site - that is somewhat annoying and might be the case...
The voting is of course possible, check that the JCollection plugin "rating" is published and make sure the parameter show rating (voting) is set to yes. The naming of the 5 rating criteria is done in the types database. In addition to that, each review can have a separate rating, that is on your screenshot (only the rating criteria that have a name are actually displayed in frontend).
I don't have much time right now, but on the weekend I'll have a closer look.
Thorsten.

The Problem is, that the images of all new inserted items aren´t shown at the frontend category view, even though the global configurationparameter suspend on "Yes" and the link entry in "Info image" is valid.

Yes not only two times ! The Info Set fields are filled correctly.

Maybe this could be the problem for one or two items. But not for nine.

That is the Problem ! The Plugin is not installed !?
I dont know why. It seems that the Installation of 0.9.15 has made a problem with this plugin, because normally it should install all plugins automatic.

I can confirm that the info set overwrite does not work in category/list view (if the option "no_overwrite" is set (no overwrite in this case means that no webservice information are fetched)) - this is fixed in the next version. However, performing a "permanent overwrite" on the item should - in principle - fix this, since the image information is fetched, and then also the item image is overwritten with the fetched image. It is really weird that this is not the case for your items (on all my test systems this works). Seems difficult to find out what causes these problems.

Thorsten.

I just realised that the permanent overwrite button (that is shown when an item is edited in the backed) does not work, so that could also be the problem. Either use the button in the frontend or the one in the items view to do the permanent overwrite.
