TOPIC: JCollection and ShopBuilder

JCollection and ShopBuilder 2 Years, 3 Months ago
I'm a newbie to Joomla and not a developer. I'm currently building a book price comparison site.

I'm currently using ShopBuilder to import XML and CSV data feeds (manually, looking forward to learning how to set this up automatically).

I'm looking for a tool that can handle feeds from Amazon and ebay (which ShopBuilder doesn't).

My question is whether it is possible/feasible for JCollection to take the information from the ShopBuilder database for an item and display it alongside the item information from ebay and Amazon?

Or whether JCollection could extend to include feeds from other sources?

I don't know what is possible or how hard/difficult it would be.

Your advice is appreciated.

Hi,
it is probably easier to extend JCollection to support more sources than to try figuring out how ShopBuilder stores its information (I've never heard of this component before) - although it might be possible. What data sources are you referring to? JCollection already supports quite a number, and I was thinking about moving the code that does the actual fetching/translation of the feeds to plugins, so that it would be easier to extend.
Best,
Thorsten.
