How to get information from amazon? 11 Months, 1 Week ago
Hello,

I created an item (book), then created an info set for that item.
Can someone tell me how to get the information about this book form amazon? When i use "parameters - amazon" on the right side, and enter the ASIN number, i get some information about the book. But when i select the book in the popup, i get no more information filled in the info set form.

I hope you understand what i write here.

Thanks for any help

Hi,
what you describe is actually "expected behaviour". By default, JCollection does not store any of the fetched information in the info sets, instead, only the ASIN is stored in the parameters and the information is fetched on-the-fly when an item is displayed in the frontend. To make the actual info set content match whatever is displayed in frontend, use the "permanent overwrite", either in the backend or from the frontend. The component behaves that way because usually Amazon is quite restrictive how their content can be used, in short: they want you to fetch everything from their server every time it is displayed.

Thorsten.

PS: if you use the frontend new item-wizard, then the permanent overwrite is automatically performed.
